    Is CBD addictive?

CBD (or cannabidiol) is one of the cannabinoids present in hemp, commonly called cannabis. CBD is used by millions of people to relax naturally.

As for THC (tetrahydrocannabinol), it is the main cannabinoid derived from cannabis. It causes a “high” psychoactive effect.

Unlike THC and certain pharmaceutical drugs (antidepressants, anxiolytics), CBD in all its forms (Full spectrum, Broad Spectrum and Isolate) does not cause psychotropic effects. Its sale in France is authorized.

What are the signs of addiction to a psychoactive substance?

Recognized as a natural remedy, CBD is used in the treatment of certain pathologies, pain, inflammation, anxiety disorders and other symptoms.

According to a study by the WHO (World Health Organization), the criteria which make it possible to diagnose dependence or harmful use of a psychoactive product are:

    • Feeling a strong, compulsive desire to use a psychoactive substance.
    • Encounter difficulty controlling the use of this substance.
    • Experiencing a physiological withdrawal effect when consumption of the psychoactive substance decreases or stops.
    • Abandon all activities and interests in favor of using the psychoactive substance (the time to obtain it, consume it and recover from its effects).
    • Continue to use the substance despite these consequences.
    • Dependence on a substance is linked to the quantity consumed. Excessive consumption will lead to a greater risk of becoming addictive.

Dependence on a substance is, above all, associated with the quantity consumed. Excessive consumption will lead to a greater risk of becoming addictive.

This dependence is also associated with the mode of consumption. In France, combustion is the most used method, as well as the use of tobacco combined with cannabis flowers. Taking into account that tobacco is an addictive substance, it is normal to feel a feeling of dependence on cannabis. If tobacco consumption is reduced or even stopped, this would limit cannabis dependence.

In addition, the age of first use can have an influence on whether or not one develops a dependence. Before the end of brain growth, the risk of dependence is increased.

What is the difference between cannabis and CBD?

CBD is renowned for its absence of dependence and its great effectiveness, particularly on stress and anxiety. CBD acts on the nervous system and also helps reduce pain and promote sleep.

Often, the image of the cannabis plant is linked to social representations of the drug. For many people, the term “drug” is frightening because it is associated with the notion of addiction, drug addiction or marginality.

You have to differentiate between cannabis and CBD. Cannabis is composed of several molecules such as phytocannabinoids, terpenes, terpenoids and even flavonoids. CBD is one of the phytocannabinoids, just like THC. However, only THC can become addictive because it acts on the reward and motivation circuit, linked to dependence due to the increase in dopamine concentrations in the mesolimbic circuits.

CBD therefore does not present a risk of dependence if consumed without THC. The WHO discovered this during a study in which several mice were given CBD and THC. The latter have not developed an addiction to cannabidiol, but to THC . Nothing is confirmed for humans, but this explains that the development of addiction is not a problem with CBD.

According to another study published in 2019 “Cannabidiol for the Reduction of Cue-Induced Craving and Anxiety in Drug-Abstinent Individuals With Heroin Use Disorder,” CBD may even be useful in the treatment of addictive behaviors and substance withdrawal.

CBD products to bring a feeling of relaxation:

Products containing CBD are offered in several forms such as oil, e-liquid, capsules, gummies, chewing gum, cosmetic products and even food products. The form recognized as the most effective is CBD oil. However, you should definitely not smoke this oil because its combustion generates carcinogenic compounds.

CBD can be taken at any time of the day depending on individual desires and needs. Consuming CBD in the morning to relax before a long day of work, while in the evening, CBD allows you to enjoy a moment of relaxation before going to bed.

CBD is non-addictive and helps reduce stress and anxiety in an effective and natural way. CBD also helps relieve pain.

Délicure, a brand concerned with everyone's well-being, offers CBD gummies , vegan and made in France based on CBD and rich in vitamins. One gummy contains 10 mg of cannabidiol; consuming 1 to 3 gummies per day allows you to relax naturally.

In the same collection, Délicure offers delicious sugar-free CBD candies , a gourmet solution for relaxing on a daily basis but also organic CBD oils with various fields of action (relaxation, sleep, female pain and ailments). All our products are natural and made in France, they all contain high quality CBD meeting French regulations.
