Natural remedies for joint pain
However, these joint pains can occur at any age and have different causes.
What causes joint pain?
Most often, joint pain is triggered by osteoarthritis (wear and tear of the cartilage). Elderly people, overweight people, or sportspeople who have intensively used their joints are the most affected by this type of pain.
Arthritis is also an inflammation or infection of a joint. It can be acute or chronic, in which case we are talking about certain pathologies such as rheumatoid arthritis or other chronic articular rheumatisms .
Joint pain can also occur following an accident, trauma, inflammation of the tendons (tendinitis) or ligaments, or another illness such as influenza, gout or Chikungunya.
What are the symptoms of joint pain?
The symptoms experienced depend on the origin of the joint pain. Indeed, joint pain can occur alone, be accompanied by muscle pain during movement, or, in severe cases, by a limitation of mobility.
Symptoms of joint pain are more intense in the morning upon waking, and can cause morning stiffness. These pains can be diffuse, recurrent or transient, associated with a pathology or occur chronically.
Joint pain is generally manifested by swelling or redness. When the pain is intense, recurrent, or accompanied by fatigue and/or fever, it warrants an emergency medical consultation.
Osteoarthritis, for example, manifests itself differently from one individual to another, however, the main symptoms are joint pain, muscle aches, morning stiffness, reduced range of motion or swelling in the joint or joints.
It is obviously recommended to consult a doctor in the event of joint pain to determine the cause, but it is entirely possible to calm them with natural health remedies that can complement or support medical treatment.
Natural Remedies to Relieve Joint Pain
There are some natural remedies, without side effects or health risks, which can relieve joint pain:
- Drink ginger tea: Ginger is one of the best natural anti-inflammatories that helps reduce joint pain, especially pain and inflammation related to arthritis. To consume it as an infusion, boil a few slices of ginger in water for about fifteen minutes. It is recommended to drink four cups of ginger tea per day.
- Consume turmeric: like ginger, turmeric is also an excellent anti-inflammatory against joint pain (including osteoarthritis for example), particularly stiffness and functional discomfort. This spice can be consumed in the form of powder to be integrated into the diet, or capsules to be swallowed.
It is advisable to seek medical advice before use in pregnant women and children.
- Apply green or red clay to the painful area: clay has analgesic and relaxing properties that help relieve inflammation problems. It is applied, in the form of a paste, to the painful area for two or three hours. To obtain this clay paste, simply mix warm water with green or red clay.
Please note, however, that this natural remedy cannot be used by pregnant women or children.
- Use lemon eucalyptus essential oil: lemon eucalyptus essential oil has an anti-inflammatory action that helps relieve joint discomfort. It is used in the form of a massage on the painful joint, four drops of oil are enough.

It should not be consumed by pregnant women, people allergic to aspirin and children.
