Melatonin and sleep
Melatonin, called the sleep hormone, is a famous natural hormone produced by our body, which helps regulate biological rhythms. There is also a synthetic form (created in the laboratory). Although the body produces it, a lack of melatonin can occur in many people, resulting in a disruption of sleep rhythms.
The sleep hormone
Melatonin is therefore a natural hormone, produced mainly by the pineal gland (or epiphysis), a tiny gland at the base of the brain. The pineal gland has multiple functions in the body, but its main effect is in synchronizing the cycle between wakefulness and sleep. It is melatonin, for example, which regulates and determines our time of falling asleep. It is often called the “sleep hormone”. This hormone is therefore essential for sleeping well.
Although it is therefore produced naturally, in the event of a deficiency, there are synthetic forms (produced in the laboratory), melatonin is therefore today available in medicines or food supplements.
Action on sleep
Melatonin is therefore, through its function (among other things) as a regulator of sleep time, one of the main factors responsible for both the duration and the quality of our sleep. A true regulator of our biological clock, its level in the body must always be optimal if we want to sleep well. So for many people, taking melatonin before sleeping makes it easier to fall asleep but also improves the quality of sleep.
Food supplements
Nowadays, many food supplements provide melatonin, particularly for those who suffer from mild, chronic insomnia or unexpected awakenings during the night. Generally associated with soothing plants such as valerian, linden or even passionflower, it is recommended in daily dosage, approximately 1 hour before bedtime. Délicure sleep gummies contain a perfect combination of poppy, linden, passionflower and melatonin. Our delicious apple-flavored gummies to take 30 minutes before going to sleep are a perfect ritual to help you fall asleep and get quality sleep while pleasing yourself. This hormone is highly sought after for its recognized action on falling asleep but also for its absence of adverse effects.
