5 tips for taking care of your hair in summer

During the summer, hair is subject to various attacks such as sea salt, chlorine from the swimming pool or even the UV rays of the sun. These damage the hair scales which then lose keratin , a protective film which gives it strength and shine.

Hair thus becomes dry, brittle and dull, and requires special care to regain strength and hydration.

To effectively protect your hair and keep it healthy, here are 5 tips to integrate into your beauty routine:

1 Moisturize your hair

Under the effect of the sun's UV rays, sea salt and chlorine, hair tends to dry out and lose its suppleness. Colored and already weakened hair is even more sensitive to these.

To limit damage and maintain beautiful hair, you must start hydrating it a few weeks before exposure to the sun and swimming.

To do this, you must favor targeted hair products for hair hydration, by choosing a hydrating shampoo, a hydrating conditioner and a hydrating mask.

About thirty minutes before shampooing, you can apply a homemade mask composed of aloe vera (a plant known for its moisturizing properties), water and coconut milk to the entire hair.

In addition, during the summer, we sweat more due to the strong heat emitted by the sun, so it is essential to drink enough water to hydrate the hair fiber from the inside. The ideal is to drink at least 1.5L of water per day, and to eat fruits rich in water such as watermelon and melon which contain more than 90% water.

2 Protect your hair

Use these tips to enhance your hair this summer!

Before a tanning session, we apply a sun cream or spray to protect the skin from the sun's UV rays , but we sometimes forget to protect our hair which is just as vulnerable.

To avoid ending up with dry hair at the end of your vacation, here are some precautions:

  • Before swimming, the right thing to do is to wet your hair (in the shower) to limit the absorption of chlorine from the pool or sea salt.
  • Before immersing your hair in water, it is advisable to put on a silicone swimming cap for protection.
  • On the beach, to protect your scalp and lengths of hair from the sun, it is advisable to wear a hat or scarf.
  • Finally, you must apply specific sun protection to the entire hair, without forgetting to repeat the application in the event of swimming or long exposure to the sun.

3 Rinse and wash your hair after each swim

To eliminate all chlorine and salt residue, it is essential to rinse and wash your hair after each swim. Indeed, the latter have an abrasive effect; they dry out, dull and promote hair breakage.

The rinsing water should preferably be cold to tighten the scales of the hair fiber and thus “trap” the hydration in the heart of the hair.

If the scalp is itchy and/or irritated by sand or salt, you should choose a calming and purifying shampoo to soothe the scalp.

4 Limit the use of heating appliances

The use of hair dryers, straighteners or straightening irons should be limited or even banned so as not to damage hair already weakened by swimming pool water, sea water and the sun. The heat from these devices dehydrates and damages the hair fiber, which promotes the appearance of split ends at the ends of the hair.

The ideal is to let your hair air dry, and to use a heat-protective product or treatment before straightening or curling your hair.

5 Take care of your hair

Natural treatments help strengthen and protect hair.

Whatever the nature of your hair, it is essential to take care of it from the inside and out, even when you go on vacation.

Use vegetable oils

Hair weakened by salt, chlorine and the sun needs rich hair care. Vegetable oils are particularly effective in conditioning, nourishing and adding shine to dry and damaged hair. They can be applied in the form of an oil bath to the entire hair (scalp, lengths and ends), left to sit under a hot towel for 30 minutes, or even several hours.

The vegetable oils to favor for taking care of your hair are 100% pure and natural coconut oil, castor oil and olive oil.

Trim your ends regularly

If the ends of the hair are dry and/or damaged, it is best to go to the hairdresser to cut them and thus maintain healthy lengths.

Eat a balanced, nutrient-rich diet

Having beautiful hair also requires diet, it is recommended to have a healthy and balanced diet to provide all the nutrients necessary for beautiful hair.

Délicure offers a “Hair” food supplement, in the form of gummies, to take care of your hair in summer and throughout the year. These gummies, which look like candy, are vegan, natural and 100% Made in France. They are composed of vitamins (B6, B8 , B9, B12 and E) and trace elements (zinc and selenium) essential to nourish the hair from the inside. They also contain bilberry extract, known to stimulate blood circulation to the scalp, facilitating the transport of nutrients to the hair bulbs for faster hair growth.

Bright Hair gummies are perfect for enhancing hair in summer.

Taking a course of these Hair gummies helps you find stronger, more supple and healthier hair.

In addition, their fun and practical format allows you to take them with you (even on vacation), and to consume them at any time of the day (without the need for water).
